Too many newcomers to internet marketing fall for the promises of big returns that so many affiliate programs dangle in front of them. These schemes rarely work, for a variety of reasons. If your budget is limited, you’re going to have to take a fresh approach if you want to make money online. If you follow others, you’ll always be bringing up the rear!
It’s no doubt that a handful of people have made tens of thousands of dollars per month from affiliate programs. These would be the ones who got in on the ground floor and got their sites to the top of the search engine rankings first. Once there, they were not about to lose their spot and continued to invest a significant share of their monthly income to stay on top.
Do you really think you can compete in a niche against affiliate marketers whose monthly spending budget is in the tens of thousands of dollars? Sure, you can subscribe to an article submission service and get your content out there, but so can they and they can do it better because they can afford to.
You’re like a villager who is facing attack from a huge, well-equipped army. You don’t have a chance if you face them on their own turf. Guerilla warriors win by using whatever they have at their disposal and fighting from the sidelines, not the battle front. Use guerilla tactics to generate targeted traffic.
Take a minute, open your mind and look around you. What have you got that the big time marketers don’t? Could you put that scrapbook album to use as a marketing tool?
As laughable as that may sound, it could be your golden calf! People all over the world love making scrapbooks. If you’re good at it and love it, why not share you knowledge and passion with others through an e-book. Find sources for handmade paper and sell that and other supplies online. You have a niche the big guns don’t even know about now.
You’re going to have to do more than just have stuff to sell, though. You’re going to have to do something unique to generate traffic. What else about you makes you unique? Take another look around. Consider that alpine skiing equipment in the garage for a moment. You and your family could take it and go on a weekend cross country ski trip. Take snapshots along the way. When you get home, make a start to finish scrapbook and videotape the whole process. Post the video online and share it with others.
The internet began as a tool for sharing first and only for commerce secondly. People are turning away from the constant sales pitches and turning back to real human interaction. There are hundreds of thousands of potential customers in almost any niche you can imagine. If you enter a niche that you really love, that could end up being the one that you will earn from as well!
